Acer Campestre – Field Maple

Picturesque, native, medium size tree of up to 30ft (9m), often larger, the timber of which can be used for turning and carving. Flowers are hermaphrodite, allowing for self fertilisation, appearing in late April / May which then develop into hanging fruits. The leaves turn golden yellow to flushed red in Autumn. Also known as the Hedge Maple it is frequently used in the rustic and traditional British hedgerow.

The planting season for bare-rooted trees and shrubs is generally between the months of November – March
