Betula Pendula – Silver Birch
Elegant, fast-growing tree and remarkable for its graceful pendulous form.
Particularly suited to dry, sandy and peaty soils. Attractive white, scaly bark with horizontal lines and small leaves turning bright yellow in autumn. Cones and catkins. Young twigs have no down which distinguishes it from the other birches. Height 12-18m (40-60′) and oftentimes larger.
