Description

Prunus ‘Snow Goose’ is an upright, narrow, columnar deciduous ornamental cherry tree, pillar-like in form and prized for its tidy growth habit and heavy spring blossom. It widens a little with maturity, but remaining within 3m width at its maximum. The blossoms open in April with soft pure white petals, surrounding a cluster of long tasselled stamens. With its slender upright habit this is an ideal choice where space is limited.

Masses of large, single, pure white flowers with long, delicate tassel-like stamens appear in early to mid-spring (around April), opening before the leaves.

Bright green leaves emerge as the blossoms fade, later turning rich shades of bronze, orange, red, marmalade, and crimson amber in autumn.

Features a slender, upright, or columnar habit. It typically grows to around 4 to 8 meters (13 to 26 feet) in height with a narrow spread of 2 to 4 meters, making it well-suited for tight spaces.

Often associated or synonymous with Prunus ‘Umineko’.

Best planted in full sun to partial shade.

Thrives in most moist, fertile, and well-drained soils, showing a good tolerance for chalky and various urban or general soil conditions.

Fully hardy and generally low-maintenance once established.

Ideal as a specimen tree, for small gardens, courtyards, narrow borders, or planted in formal avenues.
